Veterinary Primary Care & Clinical Leadership

This module allows your to develop and apply research methodologies in veterinary contexts. It includes an online course and exam, which you must pass before starting your research project. You'll design, conduct, and interpret an investigation. You'll then submit a proposal, obtain ethical approval, write a journal article, and present your project, reflecting on your experience.

This module will explore the interaction of ecosystem health with human and animal health and welfare. You will critically analyse ecosystems and their health, and assess human impacts on ecosystems. You'll evaluate their importance for human and animal well-being, understanding their contributions to well-being. You'll also critically appraise the challenges and benefits of managing environmental issues sustainably.

This module explores applying One Health principles globally. You'll analyse emerging zoonotic disease mechanisms and transmission, and evaluate epidemiology and surveillance in health challenges. You'll also appraise theories driving disease emergence, review One Health policy responses, and analyse global research.

This module looks at applying One Welfare principles globally. You'll assess links between human mental health and animal welfare, and analyse connections to domestic violence and neglect. You'll review challenges in managing wild animals, reflect on climate change impacts on welfare, and critically assess global animal welfare research.

This module examines human-animal interactions globally. You'll evaluate the impact of human-animal coexistence on animal welfare, and explore the importance of the human-animal bond for health and community well-being. You'll analyse links between food security, animal welfare, and human well-being. You'll also justify animal use in society considering cultural factors and global challenges.

This module will help you develop the skills required to lead change in One Health and One Welfare. You'll evaluate psychological principles in behaviour change, and critically review linear and systems approaches. You'll reflect on cross-discipline collaboration, and apply critical thinking to develop research questions in One Health and One Welfare.

This module will build your skills in the application of animal behavioural science and welfare by the assessment of animal pain. It is designed to help you to better understand pain mechanisms, inflammation and healing. You will assess pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical intervention for the modulation of pain.

Explore the principles of common, evidence-based physical and complementary therapies which support conventional medical treatment. This will allow informed decision making on the integration of multimodal treatment approaches to clinical cases.

In this module, you will learn about the ethics, use, and research behind clinical case management. You’ll explore how it is applied in different settings, both resource-deprived and abundant. You'll also consider how social, economic, cultural, and geographic factors affect case management.

In this module you will explore the different human factors that affect patient safety, teamwork, and results in veterinary care and animal science. You’ll draw on evidence from the healthcare and other related sciences to understand these issues.
