Nigel Farnworth
Nigel teaches across a range of modules for the Undergraduate Counselling and Psychotherapy degree program (including combined honours with Psychology). He has previously taught on the Postgraduate Integrative Psychotherapy and Graduate Certificate programmes.
He teaches across Preston and Burnley campus and since 2021, he has been an active Psychotherapist working for the University of Lancashire’s student wellbeing service. The student wellbeing services has a fantastic reputation and is rated amongst the top five universities in the country for its mental health and wellbeing support. Nigel has a wealth of experience within this field, having previously spent a number of years as a psychotherapist at Lancaster University. His other clinical experience includes Fylde Coast Counselling, Cruse Lancashire, Fylde Coast Academy Trust, and Private Practice.
Nigel has an interest in the use of creative methods for teaching like the use of juggling, music, storytelling, metaphor, and role play – contributing to the publication of the Macmillan Palgrave publication, Creative Education, Teaching and Learning.
Before lecturing full-time at the University of Lancashire, Nigel worked on 'the role of the social worker in adult mental health' at Whitehall and organised various University Equality and Diversity Conferences. He has been a regular guest lecturer at King's College London, Lancaster University, Huddersfield New College, and Salford University.
Nigel is also a Doctoral Student and is working closely with the Dean of school with regards to supporting professional athletes within their career end.

- In 2020, Nigel and his Honorary Fellow and Community Ambassador colleague were awarded the SOLIDAR Silver Rose award for contribution to lifelong learning and the building of learning societies – This award was supported by the European Union and it strengthens the relationship between European Education providers.
